No Reserve Auction! IMPORTANT SOUTH AFRICAN & EASTERN CAPE ART AUCTION – PART 1 | 450 LOTS Auction Station is proud to present the first part of an extraordinary private art collection comprising 450 individually catalogued works, bringing together recognised South African masters, established collectible artists, contemporary talent and an exceptional representation of artists from East London and the wider Eastern Cape. One of the major highlights of this auction is a remarkable collection of eight original works by renowned East London fine-art photographer Marlene Neumann. Internationally recognised for her highly distinctive approach to fine-art photography and her unique darkroom process, Neumann has developed an unmistakable visual language in which photography takes on an almost painterly quality. The collection includes large-format works such as Aloe Pride, Addo Elephants, Giraffes, Conversation, Sossusvlei, Ancient Land, Old Chair and Serenity — presenting collectors with a rare opportunity to acquire multiple examples from this celebrated Eastern Cape artist. The auction also features works attributed to an impressive selection of recognised South African artists including Gabriel de Jongh, Gordon Vorster, Ben Mzimkulu Macala, John Thomas Baines, C P Canitz, Ron Belling, Peter van Heerden, Johan Oldert, Victor N Visser, Arthur L Kleu, Alexander Leith Angelo, Giuseppe Catty, James Malinga and many others. The collection spans oils, watercolours, pastels, charcoal works, prints, linocuts, mixed media and fine-art photography. Of particular significance is the substantial collection of East London and Eastern Cape art, celebrating the extraordinary depth of artistic talent from our own region. Works include pieces by Deidre Howarth, Siyambonga Kemeke, Angela Bradshaw, Stephanie Frauenstein, Leon Steyn, Charles W Felmore, Jen Rowland, Andile Tetani, Cheryl Flowers Murdoch, Josephine Remant, Victoria Dryden, Harry Coates, Mziwaxolo Makalima, Wonga Maxiniwa, Chanelle Gale and numerous others. Subjects range from Bonza Bay and the Eastern Cape coastline to Hogsback landscapes, local harbour scenes, wildlife, portraiture and contemporary figurative works. Deidre Howarth's Sunrise over Bonza Bay, for example, forms part of this significant local section. Collectors will also discover substantial groupings by individual artists, including numerous works by Peter van Heerden, Johan Oldert and Victor N Visser, offering an unusual opportunity to acquire not simply a single work, but to build a meaningful collection around an artist. item_2026-09-18_12h22m30 From important investment-quality names and large statement pieces to accessible works by much-loved regional artists, this is a collection with something for the serious collector, the investor and the first-time art buyer alike. 450 LOTS • SOUTH AFRICAN ART • EASTERN CAPE ART • FINE-ART PHOTOGRAPHY • OILS • WATERCOLOURS • PRINTS • CONTEMPORARY WORKS A prime collection of Fine Art, a few Collectibles Viewing Available at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery - 9 St Mark Rd, Belgravia, East London Viewing times: Monday - Friday 08h00 - 16h00 Saturday 09h00 - 12h00 Why This Auction is a Must-Attend No Reserve: Every item starts at the opening bid with no hidden minimums—market value is determined entirely by you.
